Ten Essential Oils You’ll Want To Diffuse And Why

Ten Essential Oils You’ll Want To Diffuse
And Why!

By Lori Gosselin
Terra Cotta Pendants

Aromatherapy means “to treat with aroma through inhallation.” Although there are other applications for Aromatherapy, if you would like to be proactive about your health and wellness, and particularly the state of your emotions, then diffusing essential oils is the most practical and effective way to enjoy their benefits!

Why inhale essential oils in the first place? Because essential oils affect the brain and the brain affects the rest of us! Essential oils, naturally, have the ability to help us by bringing about a feeling of calmness or alertness. They can stimulate appetite or a feeling of being full. They can help us feel romantic, grounded, and empowered. They bring back memories and help release trauma. In short, essential oils affect the way we feel and the way we feel affects everything!

Below is a list of 10 pleasant-smelling, essential oils to diffuse and enjoy!

Cassia This oil is antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal, making it a wonderful oil to have in your breathing space when people are coughing all around you. And it smells a little like Christmas Candy!

Clary Sage This oil is believed to be beneficial for hormone balance, insomnia, and other symptoms of PMS. You may find it calms you, making it a wonderful oil to diffuse during stressfull [and hormone-upset] times!

Cedarwood An oil high in sesquiterpenes which means it can affect the emotion centre of the brain. It also encourages the pineal gland to release melatonin which fosters deep sleep. Breathe in this oil during times of congestion, coughs, and bronchitis.

Frankincense Diffuse this fragrant oil when you would like to increases spiritual awareness and stay focused when you are meditating. Breathing in Frankincense may also improve your attitude and elevate your spirits!

Geranium Another great oil for stress. While it calms and balances you, it may help to release negative memories. Diffusing this oil may bring you to a higher level of well-being emotionally so you feel more peaceful and optomistic.

German Chamomile Diffuse this oil for a “breath of calm” in a busy day! German Chamomile may help you to dispell anger and steady your feelings bringing you back to a clear, calm state of mind, helpng you to feel better emotionally and to sleep well.

Lavender This wonderful oil is well known for it’s calming, relaxing and balancing effect on the emotions. These properties make it a good oil to diffuse when you are dealing with nervous tension, high blood pressure or depression. Diffuse this in the bedroom for a good nights rest.

Lemongrass – This oil is fun to diffuse because it helps to make one more intuitive. It is also purifying and a natural insect repellent. Diffuse it to stay awake and feel less irritable!

Ylang Ylang – This relaxing fragrance balances male-female energies. It seems to give you what you need to come into balance. It brings your energy up if it is low and helps to calm you if you need grounding! It also has aphrodisiac properties. Think: calm, balance, confidence, peace, joy.

Peppermint This fresh cool-scented essential oil is known as “The Happy Oil”. If you are on a weight-reduction diet, you may like to know that Peppermint has been studied for its ability to affect the brain’s satiety center; the part of the brain that makes us feel full after we’ve eaten enough! It’s also good for headaches, focusing, and depression and can help clear the sinuses!

Planning For Success

BUSINESS BUILDERS NEWSLETTER FROM TERRA COTTA PENDANTS
by Lori Gosselin, Owner of Terra Cotta Pendants

When we plan a vacation we pore over travel brochures and check out every detail of the package to make sure it will be exactly what we want when we get there. The secret to having a successful trip lies in the planning. We need to give as much attention to the planning of our essential oil business.

Essential oil distributors tend to be caring people who have a calling to help others. Perhaps this is why we focus more on how we can help people than on how we can earn a good income and what will do with the money. This is noble. We know how much essential oils help people. But why stop there? There are no limits to what we can achieve in network marketing yet unless we clearly identify all the things we want from our business, the wonderful feeling that comes from helping people may be the only thing we get.

Success is defined as “the accomplishment of what is desired or aimed at”. The question is: what do you want? Where will success take you? What will your life look like when you get there? Don’t take one more step until you've formulated clear answers to these questions. This step will be among the most important ones you'll take on your journey to success.

You have your answers? Great! Now the fun begins! Create a Personal Travel Brochure for your Dream Destination. It can take the form of a composite photo for your computer desktop, a Dream Scrapbook, or a mosaic poster for your office. Cut and paste pictures of everything you want. Find them in catalogues, magazines, flyers or online by doing a Google Image Search. And with glue or Photoshop insert a peaceful, successful, smiling you into each photo.

Put yourself in that photo of the Great Pyramids, behind the wheel of your sporty dream car, and at the helm of that amazing yacht. Is that you standing at the front door of that gorgeous home? Don't you look stunning as you receive your achievement award!

When you are finished, take your Personal Travel Brochure in hand and claim this Dream Destination as yours. Give it a special place in your home or office where you can see it every day. Then roll up your sleeves, get to work and enjoy the journey that will take you there.
In case you haven’t had the chance yet, watch the movie "The Secret"
to learn more powerful techniques for planning for success.

What is the most powerful tool in your tool kit? No, I’m not referring to Terra Cotta Pendants – although Terra Cotta Pendants are wonderful building tools ;- ) This is a very useful tool that will always help you figure out what to do to build your business. It’s also the topic of the next Article.

DEATH BY VEGANISM

This title caught my eye this morning while skimming through the online paper. I personally like meat but hate what the USA allows in the way of poor animal treatment and the administration of hormones, antibiotics and chemicals. I would love to have some feedback in our comments section for this article if anyone out there feels passionate on this topic.~Karen

Op-Ed Contributor NYTimes.com
Death by Veganism
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/21/opinion/21planck.html?_r=1&th&emc=th&oref=slogin

By NINA PLANCK
Published: May 21, 2007

WHEN Crown Shakur died of starvation, he was 6 weeks old and weighed 3.5 pounds. His vegan parents, who fed him mainly soy milk and apple juice, were convicted in Atlanta recently of murder, involuntary manslaughter and cruelty.

This particular calamity — at least the third such conviction of vegan parents in four years — may be largely due to ignorance. But it should prompt frank discussion about nutrition.

I was once a vegan. But well before I became pregnant, I concluded that a vegan pregnancy was irresponsible. You cannot create and nourish a robust baby merely on foods from plants.

Indigenous cuisines offer clues about what humans, naturally omnivorous, need to survive, reproduce and grow: traditional vegetarian diets, as in India, invariably include dairy and eggs for complete protein, essential fats and vitamins. There are no vegan societies for a simple reason: a vegan diet is not adequate in the long run.

Protein deficiency is one danger of a vegan diet for babies. Nutritionists used to speak of proteins as “first class” (from meat, fish, eggs and milk) and “second class” (from plants), but today this is considered denigrating to vegetarians.

The fact remains, though, that humans prefer animal proteins and fats to cereals and tubers, because they contain all the essential amino acids needed for life in the right ratio. This is not true of plant proteins, which are inferior in quantity and quality — even soy.

A vegan diet may lack vitamin B12, found only in animal foods; usable vitamins A and D, found in meat, fish, eggs and butter; and necessary minerals like calcium and zinc. When babies are deprived of all these nutrients, they will suffer from retarded growth, rickets and nerve damage.

Responsible vegan parents know that breast milk is ideal. It contains many necessary components, including cholesterol (which babies use to make nerve cells) and countless immune and growth factors. When breastfeeding isn’t possible, soy milk and fruit juice, even in seemingly sufficient quantities, are not safe substitutes for a quality infant formula.

Yet even a breast-fed baby is at risk. Studies show that vegan breast milk lacks enough docosahexaenoic acid, or DHA, the omega-3 fat found in fatty fish. It is difficult to overstate the importance of DHA, vital as it is for eye and brain development.

A vegan diet is equally dangerous for weaned babies and toddlers, who need plenty of protein and calcium. Too often, vegans turn to soy, which actually inhibits growth and reduces absorption of protein and minerals. That’s why health officials in Britain, Canada and other countries express caution about soy for babies. (Not here, though — perhaps because our farm policy is so soy-friendly.)

Historically, diet honored tradition: we ate the foods that our mothers, and their mothers, ate. Now, your neighbor or sibling may be a meat-eater or vegetarian, may ferment his foods or eat them raw. This fragmentation of the American menu reflects admirable diversity and tolerance, but food is more important than fashion. Though it’s not politically correct to say so, all diets are not created equal.

An adult who was well-nourished in utero and in infancy may choose to get by on a vegan diet, but babies are built from protein, calcium, cholesterol and fish oil. Children fed only plants will not get the precious things they need to live and grow.

SECRETS TO CANCER PREVENTION AND THERAPY?

ARE YOU READY TO UNLOCK THE SECRETS TO CANCER PREVENTION AND THERAPY?

If So, We’ve Got Seven Keys to Share with You.

We’d like to let you know about a powerful DVD and Teleseminar
featuring Kimberly Balas, ND and Steven Horne, RH(AHG)

that will help you understand cancer, know how to reduce your risk of cancer and how to use natural remedies to enhance recovery.

In this program you’ll learn:
- What causes cancer.
- Three secrets to understanding cancer cells.
- Six tips for preventing cancer.
- The two parts of effective cancer therapy (modern medicine only focuses on one of these two parts)
- The seven keys to effective cancer therapy.
- A practical three-phase plan for natural cancer therapy.
- Why cancer interferes with muscle testing results and how to correct it.
- Why one protocol will not work for all types of cancers.
- How to create programs that work in conjunction with stanadard medical protocols (chemotherapy, radiation, surgery) and still get results.
- How to monitor a clients progress.
- How to proceed legally when dealing with clients with cancer.

We’ll share this knowledge through our 83-minute Herbal Hour DVD, “Cancer: Unlocking the Mystery”
and two 2-hour long teleseminars, which will be held Monday, May 21st and Monday, June 11th starting at 6:30 PM Mountain Time.

On each teleseminar, we’ll spend about one hour presenting material and the remainder of the time answering questions. You’ll be able to submit your questions about cancer prevention and therapy to us via email prior to the teleseminars. This will allow us to group similar questions together for greater efficiency in answering questions.

We’ll talk about the most effective supplements for cancer and how to use them, as well as diet, lifestyle and emotional issues with cancer clients. We’ll address the issue of Paw Paw Cell Reg and antioxidants (and how to use BOTH correctly to maximize results.) Not only will you be able to participate in the teleseminars, you’ll also receive a set of four audio CDs of the teleseminar to have for future reference.

How Much Would You Pay?

If you or someone you love developed cancer, how much would you be willing to pay to try to get them well?

We all know that people pay tens of thousands of dollars for both conventional and alternative cancer therapies.

Well, before shelling out that kind of money, wouldn’t it be valuable to really understand what it is you are dealing with, so you know where to spend that money to your best advantage. People with cancer often go to a half a dozen different practitioners trying to get answers and figure out what to do. This can cost them hundreds of dollars. Some of these people give good advice and some not so good advice.

Dr. Kimberly Balas has helped many people with cancer. In fact, many NSP Managers refer their most difficult cases to her and she still has a high success rate. Based on her practical, clincial experience, she’ll be sharing with you what she’s learned about cancer. She’ll not only share with you what she does, she’ll teach you why it works and how to monitor your client so you know it’s working.

Register today and Unlock the Mystery of Cancer for yourself.

Click on this link to register:
http://www.treelite.com/index.php?PARTNER=27084 or call 888-707-4372 and give promotional code #27084

View the pdf file on this seminar here . http://herbsplus4health.com/BlogPics/SeminarFlyer.pdf. Please make copies and share with others who may be interested in participating.

A note from Karen at Herbsplus4health.com : Please call me 704-588-7638 or email me, to let me know you are participating in this teleseminar, so that I can add a free drawing ticket into my monthly contest for you.

RECIPE: APPLE CRISP

The following information and recipe are taken from this great recipe book Sweeten Your Life the Xylitol Way, by Karen Edwards. Learn how to remove the refined white sugar from your life. Xylitol is a delicious sweetener.

APPLE CRISP

6 cups thinly sliced apples
1 cup quick cooking oats, uncooked
1/4 cup spelt flour or whole wheat pastry flour

1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup Xylitol
1/4 tsp. maple flavoring

6 Tbsp. unsalted butter
1/4 cup chopped pecans

Place apple slices in a buttered 9" square baking pan. Combine Oats, flour, cinnamon, xylitol and maple flavoring. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly, and spoon over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until apples can be easily pierced with a knife and topping is golden brown. Do not allow topping to darket as this will result in a bitter taste.

YIELD: 12 SERVINGS
PER SERVING:
CALORIES: 150.2
CARBS: 21.9g
FIBER: 2.7g
FAT: 8.1g
SODIUM: 1.1mg
NET CARBS: 12.2g

What is Xylitol?
Xylitol is a naturally occurring sweetener that is found in raspberries, strawberries, plums, corn, endive, and mushrooms, and it is produced by the human body during its normal metabolism of glucose at the rate of about 10 to 15 grams daily. It is a five-carbon sugar alcohol, or polyol, that can be synthesized from a number of natural products such as corn cobs or the bark of birch trees. Even though commercial xylitol is synthesized, it is considered a natural substance because its chemical composition is identical to the naturally occurring substance. It is an odorless white crystalline powder with the same sweetness and bulk as sucrose (sugar), but having 40% less calories. It is metabolized in the body as a normal carbohydrate, but at a much slower rate than sucrose. Xylitol has a glycemic index of 7 as compared to that of sugar which is 64 and glucose which is 100. It has no aftertaste and also has very pleasant cooling sensation when it dissolves in the mouth.

MEDICAL INFORMATION
Because of Xylitol's unique 5-carbon structure, many types of bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans cannot metabolize it. This is the key reason that xylitol has been found to be effective in preventing or reducing cavities and sinus infections and inhibiting the growth of bacteria that cause ear infections in children.

A number of research studies conducted over more than 30 years have confirmed that using xylitol in the form of chewing gum from 3-5 times a day (about 4 to 12 grams a day) will reduce or prevent dental caries. In the United States, xylitol is approved as a food additive in unlimited quantities for foods with special dietary purposes.

Xylitol is useful as a sweetener in foods for persons who have diabetes because of its low glycemic index and its reduced caloric value (2.4 calories per gram vs 4.0 for sugar). This was the first medical use of xylitol. Insulin is required to get glucose into the cells, which is a problem for diabetics. Because xylitol is metabolized into glycogen that can be stored directly in the cells until it is converted into glucose for energy, no insulin is therefore required. Also because xylitol is slowly absorbed and is a natural insulin stabilizer, the rapid rise in blood glucose levels normally associated with the ingestion of sugar is greatly reduced.

Another benefit of xylitol is prevention of Candida Albicans because it inhibits yeast growth. It also increases the absorption of B vitamins and calcium, thus aiding in the prevention of the onset of osteoporosis. Studies in Finland have shown evidence that xylitol can actually reverse bone loss. Recent research by the University of Iowa has found promising evidence, that xylitol may be helpful in preventing lung infections in cystic fibrosis patients, and experimentation is continuing.

You can purchase this great Xylitol recipe book on http://naturestools.soundconcepts.com/p/SLB002
You can purchase Xylitol on my web site at this link

NOTE FROM GREG HALLIDAY AT NSP

Dear Nature's Sunshine Family,

We recently welcomed over 170 Nature's Sunshine Managers to our Home Office in Utah to experience Rising Star. These new Star Managers had an opportunity to visit the Home Office, tour the manufacturing plant and experience an herb walk with Steven Horne in the beautiful Thanksgiving Point Gardens. They were also able to rub shoulders with the NSP founders and find out why quality is so important to Nature's Sunshine. If you haven't had a chance to see our headquarters and participate in Rising Star, make it a goal to join us next year.

We have much happening in May, so please take note of the following items:

Our scientific update this month focuses on noni and a study conducted by our own Dr. William Keller and Dr. Douglas Kinghorn from Ohio State University that was published in the Journal of Natural Products in 2005. While this study is a little dated, we found that many had not heard this information before and wanted all our customers to have it. Through their research, they identified an anthraquinone in the noni fruit extract that actually detoxifies and eliminates carcinogens before they can damage DNA. At the same time, this anthraquinone helped preserve existing protective antioxidants in the body. It was found that this new anthraquinone was 40 times more potent than the cancer-chemopreventive compound found in broccoli . This study is another measure of the quality of Nature's Sunshine products. Of course you can find this anthraquinone in
Nature's Noni Juice-available in two sizes-and Noni capsules from NSP. Try some today! Read the article (Nature's Noni Brochure)

Past month's scientific update:
Dark Chocolate, Cardiovascular Heath

• We're offering several Mother's Day specials this week. Save on some of your favorite products like

• Upcoming Silver Shield meetings. In June, Nature's Sunshine will launch Silver Shield with Aqua Sol technology. Silver Shield is a repackaged version of our already-great product,

o June 19 - Rochester, N.Y.
o June 20 - Orlando, Fla.

herbsplus@mynsp.com for Meeting Location Details

He will share the benefits and uses of Silver Shield-many of which you have not heard. His past Colloidal Silver classes have been fabulously successful. This is the last month to qualify for our fabulous 35th Anniversary Caribbean Convention Cruise. Make sure you join us for this unforgettable event as we embark on a seven-day cruise with the Nature's Sunshine family. We'll visit the ports of Labadee, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. If you haven't seen the convention video, members can
visit the NSP site & login to learn more about this wonderful trip.

Upgrade your Convention Cruise Cabin. Participate in our May promotion and collect points toward a cabin upgrade on our Convention Cruise by matching and exceeding your March 2007 QV. Earn 50 points by matching your March 2007 QV, and then earn 10 extra points for every 100 QV you are over your March QV totals! The top 10 point-earners during the month get an upgraded cabin! This is a great way to make your cruise experience even better.

Even if you're not a monthly winner, you still have a chance at a premium cabin. In June, the remaining premium cabins will be awarded to convention qualifiers based on November-May Cruise Point Program totals. Accounts holding the most points win a cabin upgrade!

CANCER
MORE KEYS TO UNLOCKING THE MYSTERY

A Special Advanced Teleseminar on Natural Therapy for Cancer
Presented by Kimberly Balas, ND, PhD and Steven Horne, RH(AHG)

Cancer is a very serious illness and can be very difficult to treat. If you've ever wondered if there are viable natural ways to approach cancer therapy, this is your opportunity to learn how to approach helping people with this life threatening condition.

When you register for the "More Keys to Unlocking the Mystery" teleseminar, you'll receive an 83 minute DVD featuring Kimberly Balas and Steven Horne discussing both cancer prevention and natural therapy for cancer. You'll want to watch this DVD before participating in the teleseminar, as the teleseminar continues where the DVD leaves off.

Not only will we provide more detailed information on the natural protocols for cancer discussed on the DVD, we'll also discuss the following topics:

1. Why cancer interferes with accurate muscle testing and what can be done to fix this problem.
2. Why there is no one protocol that will work for all types of cancer, and ways of adjusting your approach to cancer depending on the type of cancer you are dealing with.
3. How to monitor a client's progress so you can tell if the program is working.
4. How to approach the subject of cancer with people in the legal manner what won't get you in trouble.
5. How to create programs that work in conjunction with standard medical protocols (chemotherapy, radiation and surgery) and get positive results.
6. How to work with the mental and emotional aspects of cancer therapy.

All participants in the program will be able to E-mail their questions on cancer to us prior to the seminar and we'll try to answer as many questions as we can. Also, everyone will receive a set of four audio CDs with recordings of the cancer teleseminar about 3-4 weeks after the seminar.

The teleseminar will be held Monday, May 21st and Monday, June 11, 2007 starting at 6:30 PM Mountain Time and will last for two hours each. Cost to participate in the program is $127. and includes the 83 minute DVD and the 4 audio CDs of the conference.

SUNBURN SPRAY

Try NSP's Natria Sunscreen SPF 30. However, if you do get sunburn here is an excellent NSP Manager TIP

Sunburn Spray
I made a sunburn spray to take camping four years ago, and everything responds to it - cuts, scrapes, burns, bites, stings or rash!

Fill a 2 oz. Spray Bottle with:
-Colloidal Silver (1/2 of the 2 oz. bottle)
-Nature's Fresh (1/3 of the 2 oz. bottle)
-1 T. Herbal Trim Skin Treatment

Leave enough room for:
-15 drops Tea Tree Oil
-20 drops Lavender

My nephew had a second degree burn from a camping lantern. We used the spray 4 times at 20 minute intervals, and he was pain-free with no scarring.
