Aqua Chi Detoxifying Foot Bath

There are quite a few brand names for this Aqua Chi Detoxify Foot bath including some of the following:
The Detoxification Foot Bath, BEFEU (Bio Electric Field Enhancement Unit) , IonCleanse, Aqua Chi, BEST unit etc.

I have found the following information stated "exactly" as is written below, on about 50 different web sites and so do not know who to give credit to in regards to copywrite info if there is any. Since my line of work is an Educator and both managers in my downline use these Aqua Chi machines in their practice, those I refer to my managers may want to know a little more about how they work. I have witnessed quite a few people use this modality with each showing different water colors. I find it to be quite amazing to see different health concerns turn around as clients work with different therapies such as this to determine what is going on in their body.

IonCleanse
A water molecule is composed of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. When the molecule loses a hydrogen atom, the remaining OH molecule takes on a negative charge. As you walk along the beach, your body absorbs millions of these negatively charged ions, which alkalize the blood and tissue. Because of poor diet and high stress, we tend to accumulate and store excessive quantities of waste products, such as diacetic, lactic, pyruvic, uric, carbonic, acetic, butyric, and hepatic acids.

According to Dr. Theodore Baroody, author of Alkalize or Die, acid wastes attack joints, tissues, muscles, organs, and glands causing minor to major dysfunction. He asserts that avoiding disease and maintaining vitality, as we age, requires the maintenance of an alkaline environment throughout the body - which is virtually impossible to accomplish in our high-tech, high-stress, toxic society, unless we can walk on the beach everyday.

The IonCleanse creates precisely the same environment as the walk along the beach, only more powerfully because your feet are in direct contact with the ions being manufactured in the water. Place your feet in the water, turn on the unit and within seconds, millions of ions enter your body and begin to neutralize these tissue acid wastes.

The particles, fat, and mucous residues found in the water after bathing reflect the wastes that have left the body during the 20 to 30 minute session.

Your body will feel lighter after the first session. You will think more clearly, have more energy and enjoy a greater sense of well-being.

How the IonCleanse Works

Generating Ions

An ion is a charged atom that has gained or lost an electron which creates a magnetic field capable of attaching to and neutralizing oppositely charged particles. These neutralized particles are extracted from the body through the process called osmosis. Osmosis is a scientific term that is used to describe the movement of particles through a membrane from an area of lower concentration to an area of higher concentration. In this case, the higher concentration refers to the ion field that is set up by placing the array into the water while running the unit.

The array is placed into the water alongside the hands, feet, or body while the power supply delivers a low level direct current to the array. This causes the metals within the array in combination with water and salt to generate positively and negatively charged ions by separating oxygen and hydrogen in the water.

The practitioner determines the polarity setting through the use of litmus paper (pH strips) or muscle testing. We speculate that ions generated by the IonCleanse travel through the body attaching themselves to a multitude of toxic substances, thereby neutralizing their positive or negative charge. It may be possible to reduce pain and other symptoms caused by a lifetime of toxic buildup in the body (assuming the symptoms are caused by toxic buildup). The long-term effectiveness of the IonCleanse detoxification process depends on other life-enhancing changes a person is willing to make.

These photos show the results of independent IonCleanse sessions. The photo on the left shows the results after the unit was run for 30 minutes using only the array system. The photo on the right shows the results after the unit was run for 30 minutes using the array system, along with a person's feet submerged in the water for the entire session. The photo on the right shows that many more colors and solids are present as compare to the baseline session.

Note: The unit was run for 15 minutes in the positive polarity, 10 minutes in the negative polarity, and 5 minutes in the positive polarity; plain tap water was used during both sessions.

The Meaning of Positive and Negative

For the purpose of IonCleanse discussions, positive and negative relate to electrical rather than chemical phenomena.

When the IonCleanse is set to positive, the current is directed to the positive pole, which results in the production of more negative ions in the water. Therefore, a positive polarity generates a negative ion flow which, we believe, raises blood pH from acidic toward alkaline.

When the IonCleanse is set to negative, the current is directed to the negative pole, which results in the production of more positive ions in the water. Therefore, negative polarity generates a positive ion flow which, we believe, lowers blood pH from alkaline toward acidic.

Approximately 95% of people in this culture experience a state of acidity; that is, their bodies contain an excess of hydrogen ions, and their blood pH is lower than 7.45. These people will greatly benefit from exposure to high concentrations of negatively charged ions. However, we have found through muscle testing that most people prefer a mixture of positive and negative ions in each IonCleanse session.

Colors and Objects in the Water

Many colors and objects appear in the water during IonCleanse sessions. There is a reaction between the toxins and particles in the water, the salt added to the water, the metals in the array, and the acidity or alkalinity of the person being bathed. All of these combine to produce color, whether or not feet are in the water. The basic color produced by these reactions varies from one geographic area to another.

It is important to understand that the water will change color even if the unit is operating without feet in the water. The basic color change is a result of the reaction between all of the variables in the water and the array, as discussed above. This color change will vary in accordance with the toxic and chemical components of the water and air given a particular geographical area.

The toxins in our bodies will look the same as the toxins predominant in a specific area; however, there will be more toxic particles in the water with feet in it. You will also find that water-based toxins will not stick to the side of the bucket and array, whereas substances pulled from the body will form a sticky ring that must be removed with a detergent.

However, through many tests, we have found that the residue in the bucket is easily rinsed off if the unit operates without feet in the bucket. In addition, the residue produced while a person's feet are bathed has been found to stick to the bucket and cling to the array. The bucket will then require some type of scouring powder or soap in order to be thoroughly cleaned.

We have also found that a person's detoxification session will override the geographical toxicity of the water. Based on EAV (Electro Acupuncture by Voll) testing, the following table shows what we believe the colors in the water to represent:

Color or Particle ~ Material or Area of the Body

Yellow-green
~Detoxifying from the kidney, bladder, urinary tract, female/prostate area

Orange
~Detoxifying from joints

Brown
~Detoxifying from liver, tobacco, cellular debris

Black
~Detoxifying from liver

Dark green
~Detoxifying from gallbladder

White foam
~Mucus from Lymphatic system

White cheese-like particles
~Most likely yeast

Black flecks
~Heavy metals

Red flecks
~Blood clot material

We have also seen parasites, pinworms, and smelly purple mucous that came from a person on dairy allergy medication. We have also experienced various rancid odors.

AquaChi Detoxifcation - Let's hear from the Doctors

On a More Techincal Note:
IonCleanse detoxification—getting the issues out of tissues - The Doctors View

At the University Health Clinic in Seattle, Washington, Patrick Donovan, ND, tells of toxic components in daily living which increase an individual's susceptibility to cancer, stroke, cardiovascular illness, diabetes, free radical activity, and many other degenerations. Numerous toxic factors include allergies, metabolic by-products, anxiety, emotional distress, dysfunctional relationships, genetic/metabolic disorders, overnutrition with excessive fat, sugar or protein, nutritional deficiencies, environmental poisons, heavy metals, infectious agents, smoking, poor hygiene, lack of sleep, functional/structural disabilities, and other noxious agents. (1)

Such factors, Dr. Donovan advises, bring on oxidative stress and immune-system problems. They, in turn, reshape a person's physiology toward disease-related processes, including: (1) a breakdown or lapse in the functioning of routine self-repair for the protection of tissue integrity; (2) depletion of the buffering reserves that ordinarily maintain the body's acid/alkaline balance; (3) alteration of normal biochemical processes; and (4) metabolic changes leading to decreased production or utilization of high-energy compounds the body needs for optimal functioning. (2)

Aging Results from the Accumulation of Toxins

Most health professionals who practice Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) affirm: Aging is a gradual accumulation of toxic chemicals and other substances in the body which cause genome destabilization and resultant catastrophic breakdown of tissue homeostasis. There is an inevitability to this aging process. Even the most ardent adherents to a healthy lifestyle will experience some form of damage from toxic material that we absorb from the environment. Although the absorption of toxins is initially sublethal, gradual poisoning of one's physiology eventually becomes the source of chronic disease and fatal systemic failure. Such an insidious, inescapable process is the reason that detoxification is now accepted as a major component of anti-aging medicine.

Harmful manufactured substances that remain unrecognized by the cells tend to linger in the body. They become lodged in organ tissues as ever-present noxious elements. Most are industrial poisons which lie dormant while they accumulate, and the human body possesses no way to remove them on its own.

Detoxification includes ridding the body of actual physical pollutants such as toxic metals, harmful industrial chemicals, parasitic disease organisms, dead cellular material, and ordinary bodily waste products. Given the variety of harmful substances that accumulate in the body, knowledgeable holistic healers advocate a variety of methods to cleanse the patients' insides. Numerous techniques for detoxification are necessary because some procedures manipulate the gross anatomy and some operate at a cellular level. While some detoxification procedures are more effective than others, each step in the process has its job to do.

Dr. Karen Kelley Uses the IonCleanse Detoxification Process

Interviewing with us from her Holistic Healing Arts Center in Foley, Alabama, the homeopath, psychotherapist, and nutritionist, Karen Kelley, DC, ND, discussed her primary patient detoxification technique.

"I use a basin containing sea salt dissolved in one cup of purified water which carries the gentle electrical charge from a multiple-metallic array set into the water. This array is plugged into a down-charging unit drawing electrical power from the wall. The patient feels no shock but rather has positive and negative ions created around his or her feet in the footbath," Dr. Kelley explains. "Most patients test for a negative ion treatment; others need a positive ion treatment, and a few require a combination of both. During the beginning number of treatments, I use an array setting to generate for alternating positive and negative ions.

"Most of us are so loaded with toxins, detoxification using the IonCleanse actually makes energy for healing available. Toxic overload diminishes markedly for patients; the deleterious body ions are attracted out of the tissues through the feet and go into the water's ionic components," states Dr. Kelley. "The footbath water changes color which is a manifestation of toxin removal from the body's tissues. Reading the water's color change is diagnostic of what is being released by the patient (see photographs 1-5 on facing page).

"For instance, when the footbath color turns bluish, one recognizes toxic dumping from the kidneys; a yellowish tinge means that the bladder is giving up its toxins; orange relates to joint toxins. Fibrotic tissue in arthritic joints is an attractant for environmental toxins--they are more vulnerable," Dr. Kelley says. "Brown water indicates that a toxin dump from the liver has taken place. Candida albicans shows up as a cheese-like scum floating on the water's surface. Often then a Herksheimer's reaction occurs. Flecks of black in the water demonstrate that heavy metals are being released. Globlets of oil floating as a slick in the water means that fatty tumors such as lipomas are breaking up.

"The detoxification procedure with IonCleanse, usually takes 30 minutes for fourteen treatments administered every-other-day. Very sick patients are given up to 40 treatments, depending on how quickly symptoms subside. Pain goes away first. Once the footbath water stops changing color and stays clear, large amounts of toxin are no longer being dumped. More treatment is continued to give the array's positive and negative ions combined with ions in the water a chance to heal existing pathology at a cellular level," Dr. Kelley affirms. "Some color changes may come from the water source itself. Tap water derived from city pipes may have its own quantity of toxins. The extent of components in the water can be tested by running an array current through the water alone without one's feet in it. What shows up as a color change is bound to be the water's own baseline color. Other color changes and residual odors left in the water can then be judged as coming from the patients themselves."

"Getting the Issues Out of Tissues"

Assuring us that she can detoxify almost all aspects of a patient--even to emotional and mental dysfunctions arising out of stress--Dr. Karen Kelley refers to her IonCleansing therapy as "getting the issues out of tissues." Dumping toxins gives the body an opportunity to heal those specific body parts from which the toxins are arising.

"In my clinic we have observed some really wonderful results. Pain disappears fast, even after just one visit. In addition to the footbath technique of detoxification, this Holistic Healing Arts Center utilizes many adjunctive therapies, and they include electroacupuncture according to Voll (EAV), psychospiritual counseling, color therapy, sound therapy, a particular laser therapy offered by the same distributor, A Major Difference (AMD), who furnishes me with the IonCleanse[R] and much more," says Dr. Kelley.

"However, of all my treatment procedures, most rewarding for me personally are results that I witness from use of the IonCleanse array immersed in a water bath for the feet."

Cleansing Effects of Water

Being a powerful solvent, water is a cleansing agent for the body. Popular belief leads us to assume that we can drink enough water to harness its cleansing ability. The Institute of Medicine in Washington, DC, an independent group of experts that advises the federal government on health issues, reports that women should consume about 91 ounces (2.7 liters) of water a day. Men should drink about 125 ounces (3.7 liters) per day. (3)

But there is a limit to how much water a person can safely and comfortably drink. Drinking too much water is dangerous and potentially fatal. Partly for this reason, A Major Difference (AMD), has designed its IonCleanse, detoxifier to bypass the digestive system entirely. Using the IonCleanse[R] array, water is absorbed directly into the human tissues. After its microbiological activity, the absorbed water leaves the body without engaging the digestive tract. This entire beneficial process occurs without any effort or discomfort to the patient, and an ideal whole body detoxification takes place by means of applying the footbath.

After oxygen, water is the second most important inorganic nutrient on which life depends. About 60% of the human body is composed of water, including 3/4s of cellular protoplasm (intracellular) and 4/5s of blood, lymph and other extracellular fluids. (4) Water is involved in metabolic processes as either a reactant or a product. Proper water volume is crucial to homeostasis. The hypothalamus carefully regulates water volume using retention, excretion and other mechanisms, including thirst. Water volume is intricately related to two fundamental aspects of metabolic activity: electrolyte concentration and acid-base pH.

Electrolytes are molecules which break apart when dissolved in water and dissociate into ions (charged particles). lons are atoms or molecules (polyatomic ions) which are not in electrical balance--their number does not equal the quantity of protons. As mentioned, it is possible to suffer serious health consequences from drinking too much water. This is because water promotes ionic activity and water itself is a primary source of ions.

Electrolysis, Hydrolysis, & Redox Reactions

Electrolysis, nearly as old as the study of electricity, is a chemical process that injects electricity into water and splits its molecules into ions. In 1807, Michael Faraday observed that electrolysis could break a chemical compound into its constituent elements. From this observation Faraday hypothesized that electricity was somehow involved with binding elements together. His correct assumption is the basis for our understanding of modern chemistry and nuclear physics.

In electrolysis, the negative pole of the electrical source is the cathode and the positive pole is the anode. Sending an electrical current through water causes some of the water molecules to divide and form hydrogen ions (H+) plus hydroxyl ions (OH-). These two ions are fundamental to organic chemistry and drive reactions toward oxidation and reduction (redox) reactions.

Freeing electrons and attaching them to other molecules is part of the ordinary activity inside every cell. For example, the complex pathway which produces the cellular energy component Adenosine 5'-TriphosPhate (ATP) within the mitochondrial inner membranes includes the Electron Transport System (ETS) segment of the Krebs cycle. During this part of the Krebs cycle, the coenzyme Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD) that's derived from the B vitamin nicotinic acid is converted to its reduced form of Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NADH) with the addition of a hydrogen atom and two electrons. NADH then delivers the electrons to a series of protein carriers which transports them along the membrane.

Redox reactions are one way that ions are created. Some elements readily become ions when they come into contact with an electron donor or acceptor, such as water. The toxic metals aluminum (Al), lead (Pb), and mercury (Hg) become ions in an aqueous solution. The chemical process of dissolving solutes in water is called hydrolysis, which translates from the Greek word lysis meaning "breaking up with water."

Toxic metals are poisons changed into ions. By carrying its ions into the body, water treated with the IonCleanse[R] separates entire molecules it encounters into their polyatomic ionic components. Polyatomic ions do not originate from redox reactions (element to element transfer of electrons). Decomposition of large molecules into polyatomic ions requires a solvent like water for them to react. These smaller ionic components remain in solution when the ionic water leaves the body, carrying dissolved waste materials out with it.

As a result of all this ionic activity, poisons that are normally slow to exit the human body are dissolved in the ionic water and flushed out. As described by Dr. Kelley, during an IonCleanse[R] treatment, the footbath water changes color dramatically. Although some of the color change is generated by the electrodes, most of the visual transformation that is seen is material exiting from the patient's body. These toxins are not reabsorbed because the ionic waste material in the basin coagulates into a thick soup when exposed to the open air.

An important design feature of the IonCleanse[R] is its electrical pulsation. The electronic control unit is able to modify the flow of electricity, both pulsing it and reversing the poles. Pulsing the electrical charge prevents the concentration of ions from building up too much in the reservoir. These momentary pauses allow the body to metabolize the ions before the next pulse. Reversing the poles helps keep the electrodes clean from buildup of material dissolved in the water (a plating effect.)

A particular effect of the electrolysis generated by the IonCleanse[R] is to produce a variety of molecules from the water. There are many combinations of hydrogen and oxygen. One such ion is hydronium with the formula H3[O.sup.+].

Another important organic molecule from electrolysis is hydrogen peroxide, H2O2. Hydrogen peroxide is always present in the body, both inside and outside of cells. It is a weapon used by the immune system and is produced by polymorphonuclear leukocytes which have engulfed a microbe. A cellular organelle called a peroxisome produces the enzyme catalase which catalyzes hydrogen peroxide back into water and a singlet oxygen atom. Peroxisomes and catalase are especially abundant in the liver, a key organ for detoxification.

Electrolysis has been studied extensively for use in water treatment plants from which toxic metals, pesticides, herbicides, and industrial pollutants must be removed. Investigations undertaken by water treatment experts show just how powerful ionized water is as a disinfectant and detoxifier.

IonCleanse[R] Treatments are Antimicrobial

Physicians were recently warned about a statistical link between use of antibiotics and an increased risk of breast cancer. (5) Knowing this, CAM physicians must find safer, innovative methods to combat their patients' bacterial infections. Fortunately, water treatment experts found that electrolysis of water in the presence of carbon will produce an abundance of hydrogen peroxide in quantities sufficient to disinfect effluent in a municipal sewage plant. (6) Using the IonCleanse[R], the same method could be used to kill bacteria inhabiting a patient's body. The human body conducts electricity, so some of the electrolytic current generated by the IonCleanse[R] travels through the reservoir and makes a circuit with the patient's body. Since carbon is omnipresent throughout organic chemistry, we can expect the same hydrogen peroxide production measured in the sewage plant to occur within a patient's body.

Other researchers reported that metals have a beneficial effect on the amount of hydrogen peroxide produced. (7) Physicians could consider having patients take mineral nutrients such as the E-lyte[R] Liquid Minerals produced by BodyBio before an IonCleanse[R] treatment to enhance this antimicrobial effect.

Research has also shown that a tiny electrical pulse all by itself can destroy aqueous bacteria. (8) In addition to temporarily increasing the amount of hydrogen peroxide in the body, the electrical pulses generated during an IonCleanse[R] treatment are an antimicrobial weapon. Also lethal to bacteria is the fluctuating pH that occurs metabolically during a detoxification session.

Other research indicates that the IonCleanse[R] could be used in combination with a sonication device to dislodge bacterial clusters. (9) The combined antimicrobial assault administered can help CAM physicians bolster a patient's overwhelmed immune system by combating harmful microbes.

IonCleanse[R] Treatments Break Down Toxic Chemicals

The electrical footbath treatments could become a crucial component of preventative healthcare in farming communities where people are exposed to poisons used by agri-business every year during growing season. Research has shown that electrolysis which produces a combination of hydrogen peroxide and iron ions will break down several types of herbicides. (10) In a technological breakthrough, water treatment experts at Cornell University devised an electrolysis process using water containing iron ions and ordinary ionized water to achieve the Fenton chemistry which breaks down pesticides such as diazinon. (11) Since iron is an essential mineral for metabolism, we can expect the same effect produced by the Cornell researchers in water treatment cells to take place within a patient's body.

Water Performs Feats of Biochemical Magic

In a water molecule, there are two more positions for shared electrons around the oxygen atom. These available positions provide a strong attraction between the oxygen atom of one water molecule and the hydrogen dipoles of nearby water molecules. For this reason, water molecules form clusters by arranging themselves in a distorted tetrahedral pattern to accommodate all of the hydrogen bonds formed between nearby molecules. Hydrogen atoms in these clusters are in constant motion "jumping" between two positions in the tetrahedral lattice: one position favoring its own oxygen atom, and the other position favoring a nearby oxygen atom.

The result of all this hydrogen bonding is to form a giant molecule in which each oxygen atom is surrounded by four hydrogen atoms, thereby filling all of its outer region. The hydrogen bonds between water molecules provide so much attraction, liquid water has the unusual characteristic of being denser than solid water (ice). (12)

The structure of liquid water gives it an ability to perform feats of molecular magic such as passing through walls. Human skin is thin, only 4 mm thick on the soles of the feet. Although it is the outer covering of our body which protects us from all the harmful elements in our environment, our skin is more like a membrane than a shell. Water is able to permeate this barrier very easily.

The movement of water from the basin reservoir into the patient's feet and up into the body is assisted by an elementary chemical force known as osmotic pressure. Water naturally moves through a partially permeable membrane from the side where water is concentrated to the other side where it is less concentrated. The buildup of fluid in the body (edema) later reverses itself when the hydrostatic pressure in the body increases to the point where some water is forced out. The exit offering the least resistance to the excess water is through the feet and out their skin pores which were opened when the water first entered. This process fluctuates continuously during IonCleanse[R] treatment.

The toxic metal ions and the polyatomic ions from the harmful chemicals which were broken apart are attracted out of the body and into the footbath towards the IonCleanse[R] electrode of the opposite charge.

Experimenting with Electrolyte

During an IonCleanse[R] treatment, formation of ions does not take place entirely in the basin. In addition to the ionic laden water which permeates a patient's skin and flows into his or her body, the tissue water already present is also subject to the electrical forces emanating from the electrodes. It could be potentially harmful to add electrolyte directly to the soaking water in the basin during an IonCleanse[R] treatment. However, medical practitioners could experiment with taking electrolyte before an IonCleanse[R] treatment to temporarily increase the ionic activity of the body's circulating and interstitial fluids.

The IonCleanse[R] is so effective, medical practitioners should consider experimenting with the administration of anti-oxidants, such as a large dose of vitamin C and some superoxide dismutase, to metabolize any remaining free oxygen that was created during the treatment session. It's additionally beneficial to provide patients with an orally-administered multimineral complex to quickly restore major elements and trace elements that may have become temporarily depleted by the IonCleanse[R] treatment.

Michael Dobbins, DC, Reports Breast Cancer Improvement from IonCleanse, Usage

"While I don't use IonCleanse, by itself but rather as part of an overall detoxification protocol, I find that this device is a marvelous means of accelerating the entire detox effect," says Michael Dobbins, DC, who in company with his wife, P.J. Dobbins, DC, conducts their Dobbins Affordable Chiropractic Clinic located in Alameda, California. "When patients observe the vast amount of wastes that come out of their bodies and deposits in the footbath water, this has a highly beneficial psychological effect on them. They feel a sense of being cleaned out. What people tell me is that they sleep better; feel a great deal of energy the next day; and other effects that would accompany detoxification.

"Most dramatic are the effects I've observed from detoxifying for cancer, especially breast cancer. A school teacher in her mid-40s that I am currently treating is undergoing chemotherapy and many of the other forms of orthodox oncological care to overcome breast cancer. She had been diagnosed about one year ago. This school teacher had faced gastrointestinal complications from conventional cancer therapies, but now her bowel pattern has improved markedly," says Dr. Dobbins. "Severe diarrhea has resolved for her; insomnia is gone with sleep coming easily and deeply; plus I've observed that my patient's skin tone is less sallow and more ruddy.

"She has been taking her IonCleanse[R] treatments twice weekly for four weeks and results are excellent," Dr. Dobbins states. "Her breast cancer condition is stable. She is doing well and accepts my suggestions for upgrading her lifestyle by means of better nutrition, more exercise, and other holistic health practices.

"Since I lecture to my colleagues weekly, lots of success stories had been told to me by other chiropractors who utilize the IonCleanse[R]. When I saw that their anecdotes citing patient benefits were true, I became convinced that this therapeutic device should become part of my armamentarium for achieving detoxification," confirms Dr. Michael Dobbins.

EMERGENCY CODEX ALERT:

EMERGENCY CODEX ALERT: Pharmaceutical Cartel Plotting To Crush The Sale Of Dietary Supplements Worldwide

Date: 7/1/05
Author: Greg Ciola Interviews John Hammell Source: Crusador Enterprises

Codex Alimentarius: Back Door Strategy To Attack Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) and Force U.S. To Harmonize Supplement Laws To Restrictive International Standards

CRUSADOR Editor Greg Ciola Interviews John Hammell of International Advocates For Health Freedom (IAHF), A Leading Consumer Advocacy Group Fighting To Defend Health Freedom Rights

Like a huge tsunami originating across the ocean, draconian Codex standards threaten to sweep over the American supplement market in the next few years and wash away everything in their path. That is, if supplement consumers do not wake up to the impending threat and take immediate action to oppose this very sophisticated stealth attack against our health freedoms.

The reality is we no longer live in a world protected by national borders. America’s active participation in the United Nations, the World Trade Organization (WTO), NAFTA, and soon to be CAFTA and FTAA, if they aren’t defeated, will eventually lead to our entire country becoming internationalized in the coming years, including our domestic laws being trashed to conform to a new set of Orwellian international standards.

How could this happen? Well, all countries that signed on to be members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) have agreed to “harmonize” their domestic trade laws to a new set of international standards so merchandise can flow across borders unimpeded. However, in order to enforce these trade laws, the World Trade Organization (WTO) needed teeth. This was granted back in the mid 1990s, when the Disputes Settlement Body of the WTO was established. The Disputes Settlement Body of the WTO is a foreign court operating in secret off U.S. shores where unelected judges and bureaucrats decide cases of trade law.

Most supplement consumers were unaware at the time that the formation of the WTO and the passage of a host of other trade agreements like NAFTA would eventually lead to an incremental attack on all of our food and supplement laws. Most supplement companies in the nutritional industry have simply gone along with the advice of their pharmaceutically dominated trade associations and know very little, if any, about these complicated international developments.

In an effort to alert the American public about these dangerous threats to our health freedoms, CRUSADOR editor, Greg Ciola, interviews John Hammell of IAHF in a no-holds-barred discussion. John Hammell has played an intricate role in working to defend our rights to free access of dietary supplements. He has been sounding the alarm that serious trouble is brewing since 1996.

Unfortunately, John’s hard efforts and pleas for help have mostly fallen on deaf ears, as Codex continues to plod forward virtually unopposed, spurred on by complicity from high level U.S. delegates with pharmaceutical ties representing us at the Codex meetings. The time to muster the troops and stop these insane Codex standards -- based on “junk science” -- from steamrolling our health freedoms is NOW. If we don’t all act together on these life-threatening issues, our dietary supplement laws may eventually be challenged in a secret foreign court that could force the U.S. to adopt restrictive international vitamin laws.

John, let me begin by asking about IAHF and how you got started in this movement?

International Advocates For Health Freedom (IAHF) is a consulting firm to the dietary supplement industry on legislative issues. I do lobbying, public speaking, grass roots organizing, write articles, and try to serve as a catalyst to encourage people working together to defend their common interest in the face of this Pharma threat to block our access to natural products. I first established IAHF in 1996, while I was sitting on an airplane coming back from a U.N. Codex Alimentarius Commission vitamin meeting in Germany.

Tell us a little bit about Codex and what they are hoping to accomplish?

Codex Alimentarius comes from Latin and means “food code.” Codex Alimentarius is the most authoritarian set of international food standards ever developed. The United Nations Codex Alimentarius Commission was originally created in 1962, set up as a joint program of the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). It was ostensibly created to generate a harmonized trade standard governing the sale of all food products internationally. The idea behind it was that if there was only one set of regulations, it would eliminate the expense of having to comply with a variety of regulations among different countries. It would enable companies to more efficiently move their products. At least that was the basic idea.

So, Codex was created to “harmonize” the laws of all U.N. and WTO member countries to a new set of international standards – correct?

Yes! But they didn’t have any teeth until the advent of the Uruguay round of GATT (Global Agreement on Tariffs and Trade), which created the World Trade Organization (WTO). Until WTO was formed, GATT did not have any control mechanism to force a country to adopt any international standard. It was strictly voluntary up to that point. After the advent of the WTO, it became mandatory for member countries to adopt these international standards as their own. And the only legal means through which a country could refuse to adopt a Codex vitamin standard into law was on the basis of safety.

The only problem is the case would be “tried” in a new international court outside of the U.S. called the Disputes Settlement Body which was created by the World Trade Organization. It’s a rigged, Mickey Mouse court, that doesn’t follow our rules of evidence. It is rigged to uphold the greed driven interests of multinational corporations and it makes its rulings in secret.

The public doesn’t have access to its deliberations. You and I can’t walk into a courtroom presided over by the Disputes Settlement Body or watch these proceedings. The problem is that no private citizen has standing to appear before that court regardless of how well qualified they are. In theory, a private citizen could appear before that court, but only if both conflicting parties agreed to allow it. That has never happened.

What most consumers and supplement companies are being told is that Codex is only going to affect international law – it’s not going to affect us domestically. They all seem to believe that we’re protected by the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act passed in 1994 and that Codex is only going to impact vitamin supplement companies in the U.S. that export their products to other countries that have adopted Codex guidelines or standards. Where do the industry trade associations stand on the Codex issue, since they are a primary source of this information?

Health food trade associations are leading supplement companies into the arms of the Codex beast. The Council For Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the National Nutritional Foods Association (NNFA), the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), and the International Alliance of Dietary/Food Supplement Associations (IADSA), are attempting to pull a fast one on the vitamin consumers of the world.

All of the vitamin trade associations worldwide are being controlled from the top-down by pharmaceutical interests. The larger companies are dominating the trade associations, and all they care about is grabbing increased market share, even if this comes at the expense of consumers. These companies take the view that they’re big enough to weather any storm. They don’t care that they will be forced to water down the quality of what they’re allowed to sell, as long as they drive their smaller competitors under in order to please investors.

I had a long conversation with John Hathcock, who’s the director of international affairs at CRN and Michael McGuffin, who’s the executive director of American Herbal Products Association. They are both saying that Codex can’t impact U.S. law, that it would only affect our international sales.

My comment to them was, “So, you are denying the reality of globalization? You’re denying the push to create a carbon copy of the European Union in our hemisphere through the FTAA?” Michael McGuffin had nothing to say on this issue. John Hathcock simply went into denial on this issue, denying that it could ever happen here. But it is happening. We’re seeing a push in that direction, a huge push.

The Rockefeller Foundation commissioned a book called “Integrating The Americas, The FTAA and Beyond,” published by Harvard University Press. It’s a boat anchor of a book about 4 inches thick and weighs about 10 pounds. It’s chock full of information from economists who are all pushing the idea of “harmonizing” all the laws between the Arctic Circle and Tierra del Fuego -- that is make the laws the same for all of North, Central, and South America.

If this happens, it would be the rough equivalent of the European Common Market, which spawned the birth of the European Union. The architects responsible for the creation of the European Union are attempting to force the same thing on our hemisphere through the FTAA. They even have a plan for a hemispheric wide currency they intend on calling the “Amero.” So, we’re seeing a very heavy-handed shadow government campaign to move us in that direction and “harmonize” the laws throughout our hemisphere.

Tell us a little bit more about these trade associations and why you feel they are misleading the nutritional supplement industry.

Well, NNFA, the National Nutritional Foods Association, has a conflict of interest disclosure section, article 14.3, in their bylaws, which they ignore. It also has a code of ethics that can be seen on thewebsite at www.nnfa.org that they’re not enforcing. Any prospective new member company reading these would be led to believe that the trade association is behind them and truly protecting their interests, but NNFA is not. Not when they let pharmaceutical companies join. Not when they let employees of companies like Pfizer hold key chairmanships on committees like their international committee. Not when they hire a law firm to draft reports telling us that Codex won’t impact our supplement laws, when the primary clients of this law firm are the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. This trade association is setting the whole industry up to go over the cliff.

IADSA is an umbrella group that represents the vitamin trade association industry all over the world, which has non-governmental organization (NGO) status at Codex.. IADSA has been lying to the industry for years about what it’s actually doing. It claims to be trying to help harmonize the rest of the world to U.S. law. In reality, it has been setting us up for harmonization to some very restrictive international standards.

I was at a hospitality suite dinner at the NNFA vitamin trade show in Las Vegas in 1999 where IADSA was introduced to members of NNFA. People were shown a slide show and a simplistic map of the world with the U.S. marked in green, indicating an appropriate degree of supplement access due to DSHEA, and countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Holland and Sweden marked in stripes, indicating supplement access that was less than ideal, but still better than a lot of other countries. Then the whole rest of the world was red, indicating very poor access. Their conclusion: Major work needs to be done to harmonize these countries to our supplement laws based on DSHEA.

People were led to believe that IADSA was our savior, here to protect our industry by representing us at Codex meetings. They were led to believe that IADSA’s goal was to harmonize the world to DSHEA. Yet, the reality of IADSA is that it’s actually doing the diametric opposite of what it claims to be doing. I built the website that exposes this. The address is http://iadsa-exposed.tripod.com

Well, it appears obvious to me that the pharmaceutical industry and big multinationals have infiltrated these trade associations. For example, you can go right to the website of CRN, the Council for Responsible Nutrition, at (www.crnusa.org/who_omc.html ) and see huge companies like Archer Daniels Midland, BASF, Monsanto, Wyeth, Bayer, Cargill, Pfizer, and other power players on their board of directors. It’s very hard for me to believe they are representing our interests. What’s going on here, John?

I’ve seen the spin that’s come from people like Sam Caster, the CEO of Mannatech, which is a member of CRN. He would have his distributors believe that it’s not a big deal that there are pharmaceutical companies amongst CRN’s membership. After all, the raw materials used in the manufacture of dietary supplements come from those companies. And yes, that’s true, they do come from those companies.

However, those companies have a vested interest in creating a scenario whereby they can make more money from the raw materials and, at the same time, water down the effectiveness of the products so that they don’t interfere with the potency or cut into the sale of their prescription drugs. That way they can have their cake and eat it, too. That’s what they’re after through Codex. They win any way you slice it. If a wealthy person has to buy 10 bottles of a supplement to get the same potency they used to get from one bottle, who wins?

Don’t you feel these companies and trade associations are going to be left with some serious egg on their face, if our supplement laws are eventually harmonized to Codex standards at some point down the road, after they’ve told everybody it’s not an issue?

Well, what I’ve been saying all along is that the smaller, innovative manufacturers who are members of these trade associations need to look very closely at what they’re actually being told, because if they make the effort, they will see that they’re being lied to and led down the primrose path. What I think they should do is ban together to file lawsuits against the trade associations for not properly looking out for their interests. I also think they should quit the trade associations immediately and get behind this burgeoning grassroots-led health freedom movement, including the Coalition for Health Freedom, a brandnew international alliance of health freedom organizations.

How does what’s happening with the EU Food Supplements Directive tie in with Codex?

All 25 member countries of the European Union are members of the U.N. Codex Alimentarius Commission and send delegates to the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Use meetings. The European Union controls 17 votes here, making them the dominant political power.

Germany, largest country in the EU, is the host of the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Use. At every Codex meeting, Rolf Grossklaus, the German Chair of the Committee, has deferred to the wishes of the EU Delegate, Basil Mathoudakis of Greece. Clearly, an effort is underway to overlay the EU Food Supplements Directive as a template on top of Codex standards as a means of expanding its scope in the future beyond just vitamins and minerals.

The problem is all 25 of these EU countries are going to have the power to force a really restrictive vitamin and mineral standard through at Codex, because they are all walking in lock-step with Germany. Germany is the world’s largest pharmaceutical-producing country, and the biggest opponent of dietary supplements in the world. That’s why they became the host country for the Codex Committee on Nutrition, because they have a real vested interest in railroading us.

So if I understand you correctly, by having all these EU countries aligned with the pharmaceutical industry, they’re going to basically have the power to set very restrictive standards at Codex, which will then be utilized to harmonize the rest of the world’s trade laws. Is that correct?

That’s exactly right. The European Union is the blueprint by which our would-be rulers intend to form a global, totalitarian state. What they’re doing with the EU is their first little science project. They’re trying to set up similar regional trading blocks all over the world.

The FDA recently developed a website which basically tells people, “Don’t worry, the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act protects our industry and we’re never going to allow our industry to be harmonized to international law or regulated by international law.” How do you think they are going to bypass our domestic supplement laws to get us to accept Codex standards?

One possible way would be through a WTO trade dispute. The industry claims that this is not likely to happen, since our dietary supplement laws are so much more flexible than in other countries. And it is true that ours are more flexible. They say that the triggering mechanism for a trade dispute would have to be the FDA blocking a foreign manufacturer from bringing a product into the United States. They think that that’s unlikely, considering the flexibility of our laws compared to most countries.

My comment to that is “not so fast.” There’s a section of DSHEA pertaining to new dietary ingredients requiring companies who want to sell a product containing one or more ingredients that weren’t grandfathered in or permitted with the passage of DSHEA in 1994 to submit an extensive safety dossier on these ingredients. I believe this requires 75 days advance notice.

I just recently read the transcript of a public hearing that the FDA held on this very issue -- New Dietary Ingredients. It’s clear that in recent months, the FDA has blocked a whole lot of different new dietary ingredients from coming on the market. If a manufacturer were to unilaterally start marketing a product containing one or more new dietary ingredients without first notifying the FDA, the FDA would be bound by law to yank that product off the market. So, I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility that a foreign manufacturer might try to export a product to the United States containing one or more new dietary ingredients and the FDA could easily block it from coming in. They might even do it on purpose, knowing that it would trigger a trade dispute.

How would such a dispute potentially threaten DSHEA or get us to adopt Codex guidelines as a replacement, if that happened?

Well, the new international court created by the WTO called the Dispute Settlements Body is not run like a U.S. court. It doesn’t follow our Rules of Evidence and it’s held behind closed doors. No private citizen would have standing to appear before it, regardless of how well qualified they may be. We would be, “represented” by the very same FDA bureaucrats who have been, I feel, setting us up to lose in a trade dispute in the first place.

You also have to look at the track record of that court. Laurie Wallach from Public Citizen testified recently before the House Ways and Means Committee in Congress about U.S. membership in the WTO. She cited that in 42 out of 48 cases brought against the United States in which a WTO panel has made a ruling, we’ve lost. The WTO has labeled as illegal policies ranging from sea turtle protections and clean air regulations to tax and anti-dumping policies. So, we’re seeing a trend in which our laws are being overruled by the WTO. With only two exceptions, every health, food safety or environmental law challenged at the WTO has been declared a barrier to trade. Only two exceptions! That doesn’t make me feel really comfortable.

However, even if that weren’t used as the vehicle to harmonize us, it could be done at the hemispheric level through the FTAA by the Sanitary Phytosanitary Measures Agreement (SPS). This agreement is found verbatim in both the WTO trade agreement and in NAFTA and would most likely be included in CAFTA and the FTAA, thus broadening and deepening its scope.

Through the SPS agreement, every nation on earth is required to “harmonize” its dietary supplement laws to the mindlessly restrictive international Codex standards. Harmony is a beautiful thing when it comes to music, but it’s not a good thing to make all the laws the same all over the world and to have these laws made by unelected bureaucrats who are accountable to no one except the multinational corporations that control them.

According to a March 22nd, 2005 white paper, attorney Justin Prochnow, says of particular relevance to this discussion is Article 3 of the SPS Agreement which reads: “To harmonize Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures on as wide a basis as possible, members shall base their food safety measures on international standards, guidelines or recommendations.” According to Prochnow, these provisions with the use of the term “shall,” effectively make the voluntary Codex guidelines mandatory for member nations of the WTO. I also heard that in November of 2004 at the last Codex meeting in Bonn, Germany, that the Codex standards have gone from being voluntary to mandatory.

That’s right. They’ve eliminated their reporting requirement, which in effect makes it mandatory. This is something that Suzanne Harris of the Law Loft has widely reported, particularly in the following article,“Who Says Whatever Happens At Codex Does Not Affect U.S. Law and Why Do They Say It?” which your readers should definitely read on her website at: http://thelawloft.com/Freedom/050125_us_law.htm

In her article, she explains that the Pharma-dominated vitamin trade associations are, in fact, in an unholy alliance with the FDA and other regulators. They all want Codex. They want one set of regulations for the planet, because they don’t want to have to make different products for different countries with different labels and different ingredients. They want “one-size-fits-all” and they’re willing to sacrifice anything to get that.

Aren’t the supplement companies aware that the language has gone from voluntary to mandatory?

I don’t know what they are or aren’t aware of. In any case, they seem to be allowing themselves to be guided by the largest companies in their trade associations --the ones that want Codex, the ones that want one-size-fits-all, the ones that want to knock off their smaller competitors and are quite willing to turn their backs on consumers.

What you’re saying reeks of a conspiracy, John. If these standards and guidelines are going to be mandatory and not voluntary, that basically shreds DSHEA and flushes it right down the toilet, doesn’t it?.

The changes (legislation) would have to be made by Congress. The problem is that the globalist policies provide a huge lever to coerce Congress to conform.

Yes, but we already signed on to be a member of WTO and the United Nations, so then how could Congress prohibit the shredding of our supplement laws, based on these international agreements?

Under the threat of trade sanctions, which could impact broad sectors of our economy. Congress’s arm can be twisted to the breaking point so they’ll change any law that could wreak such economic havoc.

If, for the sake of discussion, Codex can’t be stopped and some time down the road a country decides to take the U.S. before the Disputes Settlement Body of the WTO and we lose, how would they ever enforce this?

The only legal means by which we could defend our domestic law in that court under the SPS agreement is on a basis of safety. However, the FDA has actually been taking steps to ensure that we lose a WTO trade dispute by generating false definitions of vitamin safety. Well, we’d have no problem doing that if the matter were under review in a U.S. court where we could bring any expert witness to testify, including private citizens like Linus Pauling, if he were still alive for example -- people of that caliber. But the problem is, no private citizens have standing to appear before the Disputes Settlement Body. Unelected bureaucrats from the FDA would be our representatives.

In my opinion we’re dealing with illegitimate, criminal entities, John. The United Nations is a fraud, Codex is a fraud, and the WTO is a smokescreen for the multinationals who want a de facto monopoly over every enterprise, while crushing all competition. Is it possible for the U.S. to get out of all these treaties?

We would have to get out of both the WTO and the United Nations. There have been bills introduced in previous sessions of Congress that would do that, but it’s never gone anywhere and it’s unlikely to get very far because of the multinational manipulation of Congress. Historically, there have only been some people on Congressmen Paul’s Liberty Committee that have been cosponsors of the American Sovereignty Restoration Act. It’s HR1146. It’s not likely that we’re going to get out of the UN or the WTO; it would be great if we did.

You have been very cautious in your reporting about Codex because there has been a lot of disinformation put out there. Am I correct when I say that it’s your belief that Codex is only moving to ratify a framework pertaining to risk assessment and their intention is to fill in the blanks on allowable potency levels for vitamins and minerals after the fact. What do you mean by “framework?”

Their way of sliding things past us is by doing it incrementally. They know that if they had all the specifics of the regulations filled in, in advance, going into the Codex Alimentarius Commission meeting July 4-9 in Rome, that it would galvanize a huge public backlash, which they’re trying to avoid. And so they’ll ratify a framework and then move to fill in the blanks later.

(see http://www.capwiz.com/lef/mail/oneclick_compose/?alertid=%2077396911 )

And who decides what those blanks are going to be?

The World Health Organization! WHO convened a panel led by the FDA’s Dr. Christine Lewis Taylor (wife of former DEPUTY COMMISSIONER for Policy at FDA, Michael Taylor) on nutrient risk assessment. When she called for participants for this workshop, every single highly qualified person that applied, including both MDs and PhDs who believe in optimal health, were shut out. All of those people were excluded from participation in this workshop, which was obviously being rigged by pharmaceutical interests. We feel that their long range intention was to produce supplement values similar to those presented by the German Federal Institute of Risk Assessment. Incredibly, some of their allowable potencies are actually even lower than RDAs. (www.alliance-natural-health.org/_docs/ANHWebsiteDoc_145.doc )

To make matters worse, Pharma-dominated vitamin trade associations, such as the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), have brazenly put out press releases claiming that consumers have actually benefited from the move to scrap RDAs as the basis for establishing allowable potency levels at Codex. They even announced a “victory” for consumers, supposedly because they’ve decided to base potency levels on so-called “scientific risk assessment.”

The problem is that what CRN is calling scientific, in fact, is not scientific and it’s certainly not a victory for consumers, especially if the potencies that come out of this process are as low as the ones put forth by the Germans. And yet I don’t see any reason to expect anything other than this outcome, because CRN is telling the industry that the end point of Codex will be the safe upper level numbers generated by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.

When those numbers are shown to people in the industry, their reaction is those numbers aren’t so bad, those are comparable to what we’re currently allowed to sell; I have no problem with that. The problem here is that these vitamin companies aren’t being told that those numbers represent only the first tier of risk assessment. That’s what you get prior to subtracting junk science derived nutrient risk factors and also junk science derived numbers stemming from some mythical average diet which doesn’t, in fact, exist. It doesn’t take into account regional and climatic differences and the differences in nutritional needs that go with being in more northerly latitudes, for example, where people don’t get the sunlight that they do or the access to fresh fruits and vegetables that you might get in more southerly latitudes.

They also don’t take into account individual differences in absorption and so on. So the numbers that the Germans have arrived at in many cases are even lower than RDAs. And if CRN were telling the truth to its member companies, they would show them all of that fine print. But instead they’re conning them into backing this framework without telling them the truth about where it’s leading.

When do you think they would fill in the blanks and how would they do that without any public oversight, so that we’re not aware of what’s happening?

Well, they would just take the view that, “Okay, the framework has been created. The methodology is in place and, therefore, you have no choice but to accept the filling in the blanks the way that we do it.”

So, Codex is going to pass a resolution that the framework that the World Health Organization comes up with is acceptable to Codex delegates then, right?

Yes. They would just sign off on it because it’s a formality.

When do you think these allowable potency levels would then be filled in?

That’s anybody’s guess. And the problem here is that we won’t have any input. All of this will be done behind closed doors, just the way they held the workshop to create the framework.

What about these reports that I’m hearing that even when you talk about allowable potency levels, they’re only going to allow synthetic vitamins and minerals -- anything that’s natural, like natural vitamin E, organically-derived minerals, etc. would not be allowed because they want to follow strict pharmaceutical standards? Is that true?

The trend we’re seeing here is a clear effort to incorporate things from the European Supplements Directive into Codex. The EU, through their draconian Food Supplements Directive, is attempting to ban the food forms of vitamins and minerals and only allow synthetic forms, which are less bioavailable. However, there’s no legal connection between the European directive and what happens at Codex.

In order for vitamin supplement consumers to understand the full impact and seriousness of the situation, can you tell us what some of the restrictions would be on vitamins and minerals, if Codex is not stopped?

You can go to the following web page put out by the Alliance For Natural Health based in the UK (www.alliance-natural-health.org/_docs/ANHWebsiteDoc_145.doc ) that shows the mindlessly insane, low potencies they have drafted for the EU Food Supplements Directive. Remember, they are attempting to use this Directive as the blueprint for Codex. While Codex will only be ratifying a framework on nutrient risk assessment, (their intent being to fill in the blanks on allowable potencies after the fact), we see the writing on the wall in terms of what those limits could be. Only the German Federal Institute of Risk Assessment has done the full extrapolation called for by Codex, and their projected “Maximum Safe Permitted Levels” include just 225 mg for vitamin C, 5 mcg for Vitamin D, 15 mg for vitamin E and just 5.4 mg for Vitamin B-6.

When America’s supplement industry was under attack back in 1994 people rose up and flooded Congress with letters and calls demanding that they have free access to dietary supplements. What do you think people need to do today?

We need to educate Congress about the connection between the Codex vitamin issue and these trade agreements – WTO, NAFTA, CAFTA and FTAA. We need to explain to our Congressmen and women that they have sworn an oath to defend our Constitution from all enemies -- both foreign and domestic -- and that this is a matter of defending our sovereignty. Our country isn’t going to exist if we continue to go down this path.

We don’t need to go the route of what’s been happening in the European Union. Despite over a million vitamin consumers’ signatures on petitions against harmonizing their law to the European Food Supplements Directive, the ruling Labor Party in the UK said, “Sorry, we are members of the European Union, we’re going to harmonize to European law, whether you like it or not.”

Then after “stacking” the committee with “yes” men, the standing instrument got ratified, harmonizing the UK to European law in that instance. And that’s exactly what will happen here, if we don’t stop this slide into the FTAA. We’re going to see the destruction of our country. We’re already seeing it. You can see it through NAFTA. You can see it through the statistics and in Laurie Wallach’s testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee on May 17th, 2005.

Congress needs to listen to these complaints. Any member of Congress that votes in favor of CAFTA or FTAA needs to be driven out of office, and we need to tell them in advance that if you vote for CAFTA or FTAA, we will drive you out of office for these reasons and cite them all. The first reason is that we’re trying to protect our dietary supplement law. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. If we don’t kill CAFTA and FTAA, we are going to lose all of our most cherished freedoms. We’re going to lose our country.

I hesitate to make the comparison but it sounds like what we’re seeing with Codex and the consolidation of the EU is the revival of the Nazi Empire, only this time they are seeking to suck the whole world into their web, including the United States.

It’s interesting that you say that because there’s a guy named Phillip Day who would totally agree with you. Phillip Day is an Englishman who wrote a book called Ten Minutes To Midnight that I mentioned in my article “Ripping Up The Railroad Tracks To Auschwitz,” which can be found on my website at www.iahf.com On the cover of Day’s book it shows Big Ben, the famous clock in London, with the British flag super-imposed on the clock face with ten minutes of the flag remaining as the clock ticks towards midnight. This book is about the imminent destruction of England as a nation as it gets plunged into darkness and gets subsumed by the Nazi entity called the European Union. In the book he documents the Nazi origins of the European Union and he documents how, after losing WWII, the Nazi’s set the stage for regaining power in Europe. They, in fact, set the stage for the creation of the European Union, and all this is thoroughly discussed in his book. After I reviewed Day’s book, I find it to be un-impeachable. There’s no controversy about the fact that the European Union is a Nazi entity.
Let me pick up on something a little different. There seems to be quite a bit of conflicting information circulating over the Internet about Codex. Some of this information is leading people to believe that the Codex Vitamin and Mineral Standard will also impact things like farming, pesticides, irradiation, natural medicine and a slew of other issues. I know that there are other aspects of Codex beyond the Vitamin and Mineral standard but why are they being discussed as though they are as imminent as the Vitamin and Mineral Standard?

I’m not sure. Perhaps it’s part of a disinformation campaign to confuse people on the entire situation and mislead them. There are a whole slew of Codex committees, and there are other aspects of health that are being dealt with at Codex, including things like organic standards. However, all that is being played out separately. You can’t lump everything in together and say it’s all coming under the auspices of the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods For Special Dietary Uses when it’s not.

Do you know how far along they are on some of those other things?

I haven’t had the time or energy to focus on anything but the vitamin and mineral issue. Those are equally valid issues and the concern about globalization remains the same. If we want to protect U.S. laws, we have to protect our sovereignty. If we don’t want to be harmonized to Codex standards, not only for vitamins and minerals, but for other dietary supplements down the road if they expand it to include things like organics, then we need to protect our sovereignty. It all boils down to that. And the fact is we do have political leverage over state and federal legislators. We do not have political leverage over unelected bureaucrats at Codex, but we need to focus our energies on where we have political leverage, not on where we don’t.

But even if we are able to defeat CAFTA and FTAA, which may not happen, but even if we were, we’re still a member of the UN and the WTO. They can still hammer us that way, even if they don’t harmonize us through CAFTA and FTAA. Don’t you feel that way?

The way they’re trying to get us is through regional harmonization, the same way they’re trying to get the United Kingdom. The United Nations has teeth through the World Trade Organization. Prior to the advent of the World Trade Organization, they didn’t have the ability to force their will on other countries. Now they do.

You have consistently reported that what’s happening on the international stage with Codex is linked to a eugenics/genocide agenda. I know that sounds extremely radical to the average person, but tell us why you make these statements?

The reason I make these statements is because when you look at current world population, which is 6 1/2 billion people, and you read reports of most demographers who are predicting an increase in world population to a more than doubling of the current population by mid-century – they’re predicting a rise to over 15 billion people -- and you read reports from entities like the World Eugenics Society, the Population Council, No Population Growth (NPG), and Zero Population Growth (ZPG), it’s apparent that they do indeed have an agenda where they’re trying to cull our numbers.

You have to understand what Big Brother’s goal is here. Big Brother doesn’t want us living over the age of 65. Those in power want us to keel over on our 65th birthday. They don’t want us to get on these entitlement programs like Medicare and Medicaid, because these things are bankrupt and they don’t have the money to keep them going. They’re also worried about world population. It’s not to their advantage, if we’re healthy. They don’t make business with health, they make business with disease.

An example of that is back in the 1950s, when they stopped farmers from using manure for fertilizer and got them all using chemical fertilizers, breaking the sulfur cycle. Sulfur is released into fruits and vegetables grown with manure as fertilizer. Sulfur is extremely important in preventing degenerative disease. What sulfur does is improve oxygen transport through the cell membranes. Oxygenation is extremely important to prevent cancer. An intentional effort was made to trigger a rash of degenerative disease, including cancer, in order to make more money in the hospitals, in order to sell cancer drugs. They have a business with disease.

That’s just one example. Anything preventative they’re against. Anything that will make you sick or will keep you sick, or keep you going into their hospitals to see their doctors to get drugs is what they want. It’s as simple as that. They don’t want you living a long time. Another aspect of this, which is even more sinister – food control equals people control. If they can control the world’s food supply, which is what they’re trying to do through Codex, they have us in the palm of their hands. That’s what they’re after – control.

Hundreds of thousands of America are dying each year from pharmaceutical drug side effects and doctor-induced death, yet I bet we can’t even count on our hands the number of people that are dying from dietary supplements. It’s pharmaceutical drugs and pharmaceutical companies that really need more stringent regulation and oversight, not supplement companies and dietary supplements that don’t harm or kill virtually anyone.

Exactly! We’ve got the equivalent of a 747 crashing and burning every calendar day for a year from iatrogenic side effects from properly prescribed pharmaceutical drugs. This is documented in the Journal of the American Medical Association, which has identified properly-prescribed prescription drugs as the third leading cause of death. So whom are they kidding? You have less of a chance dying from a dietary supplement than you do from a bee sting or being hit by lightning. The hypocrisy is mind-blowing. The double standard is mind-blowing. And one of the biggest problems we have is the Pharma tentacles that reach into our vitamin trade associations and the fact that the members of these trade associations allow that to happen.

Well, John, you’ve certainly given us plenty of great information so vitamin consumers have a good assessment and understanding of the Codex situation. Thank you very much for your time and all the great work you’re doing to defend our freedoms.

Thank you, Greg. Keep up the excellent work you’re doing to also help defend our health freedoms.

URGENT ~ Call Congress" NO" to Codex via CAFTA

ALERT - TIME-SENSITIVE
Please call your Congressman ...phone number and email at the following:

http://www.visi.com/juan/congress

SAY "NO" to CAFTA Section 6 (Senate Bill 1307)

Keep freedom of choice for supplements
------------------------------------
CAFTA Section 6 (Senate Bill 1307)
July 12, 2005 11:36 a.m. PDT

This is a special ALERT - TIME-SENSITIVE public service message.
In 1994, I and millions of other Americans lobbied Congress to oppose
the legislation which would have given the US Food and Drug Authority
(FDA) power over our vitamins, minerals, and other food supplements.
In the last days before the final vote, I organized a group of concerned people for a protest rally in front of the FDA in Seattle to expose the fact that the bill opposing the FDA control of our food supplements was being locked up 1Cin committee 1D by the chairman of the House of Representatives committee, who just happened to be the second largest receiver of pharmaceutical industry PAC funds in the entire Congress!

With a week to go, I called the Seattle television stations for NBC, ABC, and CBS. NBC and ABC news offices in Seattle said they wanted to cover the issue of Americans losing their rights to freely purchase food supplements, but that they had not had a news event to cover regarding the issue. I told them we would be staging a protest one morning during the next week in time for them to film it and get it sent out to the national news desks for possible evening news coverage nationally.

Once I had ABC and NBC in Seattle committed, and I completed the
actions to get the demonstration permit, etc., I then called the member of the House of Representative, who was holding the bill 1Cagainst FDA control 1D by keeping it off his committee 19s agenda, and told his assistant that this House member 19s name and his huge pharmaceutical industry contributions would be the main topic of my remarks to the NBC and ABC reporters and film crews when we demonstrated in front of the FDA in Seattle! I told them we were doing our demonstration EARLY in the day so we could get the national evening news television shows to cover our demonstration!

Within 36 hours, the bill opposing FDA control of our food supplements
was voted out of committee and then passed by the House just hours
before the House adjourned. We WON that fight and we can win this fight too!

Americans must LOUDLY DEMAND that Congress SAY 1CNO 1D to the foreign influences that are now using a new, devious method to TAKE AWAY our access to food supplements, vitamins, and minerals!

The following overview explains 1Chow 1D this new effort is being done.
As you may know, the European Union has imposed the 1CCodex 1D which restricts Europeans access to vitamins, minerals, and food
supplements. The entire scheme is backed by huge, multi-national
pharmaceutical corporations who are trying to take away our ability to
have access to vitamins, minerals, and food supplements in our health food stores and other places, and to FORCE us to get a medical doctor 19s prescription for vitamins, minerals, and food supplements! It is GREED and control that are behind the entire scheme!

Remember, pharmaceutical companies only make money if YOU are SICK! They do not make money from healthy people.

This time, the pharmaceutical industry is using 1Ctrading treaties 1D and
trade organizations to push forward their devious scheme. There is a
treaty called 1CCAFTA 1D which has been approved by the US Senate, in a vote 54 for and 45 against on July 1, 2005. Now the House of Representatives must vote on 1CCAFTA 1D.

In the CAFTA bill, Section 6, is a provision which requires of all its members that they form a Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary (SPS) committee
for the purpose of insuring ongoing harmonization under the terms of the SPS Agreement in the World Trade Organization (WTO). Article 3 of the WTO's SPS Agreement basically requires that the European Union 19s
CODEX be accepted by all members of the WTO.

Using 1Ctrading organizations 1D and requirements of these trading
organizations and treaties, is HOW the enemies of freedom are trying
to FORCE Americans to LOSE their personal choices and freedoms in utilizing the God-given benefits of vitamins, minerals, and food supplements. We do NOT need nor do we want to have to get a prescription for vitamins, minerals, and food supplements from a medical doctor who has received less than 20 hours of education on vitamins, minerals, and food supplements in their entire eight years of college education! Most medical doctors are brainwashed to use pharmaceutical drugs by hundreds of hours of college education focusing on prescription drugs and hundreds of pharmaceutical corporation advertisements, sales people, free samples, and seminars 13 all designed to SELL DRUGS!

It cannot be over-emphasized how deceitful and Machiavellian these actions are to FORCE Americans and the world 19s people to USE PRESCRIPTION DRUGS, and LOSE the ability to freely access vitamins, minerals, and food supplements!

Every American should be calling and writing their Representatives in the US House of Representatives and LOUDLY demanding that these requirements to 1Charmonize with the CODEX 1D be forbidden from any
legislation the US Congress approves. Every American should be demanding their rights to freely access what has been given to us from nature: vitamins, minerals, and food supplements. NO ONE has the right to take away our right to have free access to these natural substances!

You may find the US Representative who represents you by clicking on
http://www.house.gov - in the top middle enter your zip code and find your House Representative. Also on the left side you will see 1CRepresentatives Offices 1D and to the right of that there is a 1Cdrop-down 1D menu which you click to see the list of Representatives and their locations; when you click on your Representative 19s name in the drop down menu, it gives you their website and all their offices and phone numbers. I suggest you call them at their Washington, D.C. office TODAY if possible. You may also send them an email through www.house.gov/writerep .

I remind you, in 1994 through the BIGGEST lobbying effort by Americans ever in the history of the USA, even bigger than the anti-Vietnam war efforts, we WON Americans the right to continue to freely access vitamins, minerals, and food supplements.

I urge each of you to DO YOUR PART 13 tell your House Representative to vote 1CNO 1D on the CAFTA requirement which would impose the terrible CODEX restrictions on Americans!

If you know the name of your US Congressperson, you may call the Congressional switchboard number at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to your House Representative 19s office. Then tell the staff person you are requesting the Representative vote 1CNO 1D on the CAFTA provision which TAKES AWAY from Americans the freedom to freely access food supplements by imposing CODEX on Americans.

In the meantime, YOU can do something useful by getting in the habit
of demanding your rights. We Americans have sat back and let Congress pass some terrible laws. It 19s OUR FAULT America is doing the wrong things and Congress is listening to the wrong people. We all need to TAKE ACTION and demand our rights. We need to make a habit of demanding our rights!

When I called my own House Representative today, his staff person said that the CAFTA bill is in the 1CWays and Means Committee 1D currently. You might contact the committee members as well if you wish to do more, and demand the Codex link be removed from the bill. The House of Representatives is expected to vote on this bill 1Csometime in the next few weeks 1D per my Representative 19s office.

When I called US Representative Ron Paul 19s office, his staff person said it is predicted that the House of Representatives vote on this CAFTA bill will be VERY CLOSE 13 possibly 3 to 5 votes (out of 435 votes) will make the difference! WE all need to CALL or email our Representatives and demand a big 1CNO 1D to this CAFTA effort to TAKE AWAY our food supplements freedom by the Machiavellian, devious CODEX connection.

Although not spelled out in the CAFTA bill, the FDA would be the 1Cimplementing authority 1D of taking away our food supplements! Remember, get a permit from the local city or police to do your demonstration 13 this is NOT hard to obtain and when you tell them what is happening, they will probably become behind-the-scenes allies. That was what I experienced when I called the television news people and the sheriff over the area of the FDA office in Seattle.

Most Americans have NO IDEA that their ability to buy Vitamin C and other food supplements WILL BE TAKEN AWAY by this devious CAFTA bill. CODEX goes into effect NEXT MONTH - August 2005 - in the European Union! It will be going into effect in the USA unless we STOP it NOW!

DO your demonstrations 13 contact the local stations carrying ABC, NBC, and CBS and tell them you will be doing demonstrations 13 when, where, what time - so they can show up to film and interview you. Let 19s get this issue on television and radio news 13 Americans need to WAKE UP to what their Congress is doing!

Stand UP for yourself! Call the Congressional switchboard number at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to your House Representative 19s office now! and internationally.

July 2, 2005 Press Release
National Health Federation (a not-for-profit health organization)

The Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) Treaty will require the U.S., a member of the World Trade Organization, to revise our food laws and regulations based on Codex decisions. CAFTA would force harmonization of our dietary supplements and regulations to international standards, overriding the DSHEA Act of 1994.

The Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) and the even-broader Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA) are both modeled after the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). These agreements are typical bureaucratic monstrosities of "managed" trade that masquerade as free trade and would expand NAFTA to include first Central America and then the rest of the Americas in an economic "union." True free trade would take a few pages of written text to enact ("eliminate these barriers to trade and these tariffs," etc.); all three of these agreements encompass thousands of pages of bureaucratic textual garbage sprinkled liberally with rules, regulations, and special-interest benefits.

Buried in the language of CAFTA is Section 6 that would require of all its members that they form a Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary (SPS) committee for the purpose of insuring ongoing harmonization under the terms of the SPS Agreement in the World Trade Organization (WTO). You can find that text at the following website: www.ustr.gov/Trade_Agreements/Bilateral/CAFTA/CAFTA-DR_Final_Texts/Section_Index.html.

If you then look at Article 3 of the WTO's SPS Agreement, you will read the following words: "To harmonize sanitary and phytosanitary measures on as wide a basis as possible, Members shall base their food safety measures on international standards, guidelines or recommendations." And as you all know by now, Codex sets the international standards for food safety including vitamins & minerals.

So, CAFTA, which is set for a vote in the House of Representatives when they reconvene July 11th, 2005, is another critical link by which health-freedom haters hope to bypass the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 and obligate the United States and Canada by treaty to harmonize to the harshly restrictive Codex vitamin-and-mineral standards. They cannot be allowed to succeed, and we at the NHF completely oppose these two treaties that would put a knife in the back of our health freedoms.

* CAFTA has already passed the Senate in a 54 to 45 vote on July 1st, 2005.
* Legislators have just recessed for one week, reconvening July 11, 2005.
* IMPORTANT- For House consideration, when they return, the Senate Bill 1307 (click here to view bill), ratifying CAFTA, can be voted on without going to committee. It is on the House calendar and may be brought up at any time.

PLEASE JOIN IN THIS EFFORT AND CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVES. Contact any member of the House of Representatives via www.house.gov/writerep

Henry Lamb- A Great Freedom Fighter Documents how your Dietary
Supplements are Under Attack

Mr. Speaker, I urge my colleagues to read "Your dietary supplements:
Under attack again" by Henry Lamb, which I am inserting into the record. Mr. Lamb explains the threat to American consumers of dietary supplements and American sovereignty by the Codex Alimentarius commission, commonly referred to simply as Codex. The United Nations created Codex to establish international standards for foods and medicines. Just last week, representatives of the United States government agreed to a final version of Codex's standards on dietary supplements which, if implemented in the United States, could drastically reduce Americans' ability to obtain the supplements of their choice. Members of the American bureaucracy may be hope to achieve via international fiat what they cannot achieve through the domestic law-making process--the power to restrict consumers' access to dietary supplements. American bureaucrats may gain this power if the World Trade Organization, which considers Codex "guidelines" the standard by which all other regulations are judged, decides that our failure to "harmonize" our regulations of dietary supplements to meet Codex's recommendations violates international trading standards! This could occur despite the fact that American consumers do not want to be subjected to the restrictive regulations common in other parts of the world, such as the European Union.

This article is typical of Henry Lamb's work. For almost twenty years, beginning at an age when most Americans are contemplating retirement,
Mr. Lamb has worked to expose and stop threats to American liberty, sovereignty, and prosperity. Mr. Lamb became involved in the battle for liberty when, as the CEO of a Tennessee construction company, he founded a state association of contractors to work against excessive regulations. In 1988, Henry Lamb founded the Environmental Conservation Organization to defend true environmentalism, which is rooted in the truth that there is no better steward of the environment than a private property owner, from those who used the environment as a cover for their radical statist agendas. Since 1992, Mr. Lamb and ECO have focused on the threat to economic liberty and self-government posed by the radical global environmental agenda.

Henry Lamb works to further the cause of liberty by giving speeches around the country, editing an on-line magazine, making numerous television and radio appearances, and writing a weekly column to inform his fellow Americans of the latest scheme to undermine their freedoms. Mr. Lamb is the model of a citizen-activist, and all who wish to become involved in the battle for freedom can learn from his example. In conclusion, I once again urge my colleagues to read Mr. Lamb's article to learn about the need to protect American consumers from Codex, and I thank Mr. Lamb for his tireless devotion to the cause of freedom.

YOUR DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS: UNDER ATTACK AGAIN
(from WorldNetDaily, June 11, 2005)
(By Henry Lamb)

The Codex Alimentarius Commission sounds like one of those shadowy,
sinister organizations conjured up by one-world-government nuts to scare people.

Truth: It is!

The Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization created this commission in the early 1960s to set standards for food safety and to ``harmonize'' the laws of member nations. The commission was endorsed by U.N. Resolution 39/248, which says:
``When formulating national policies and plans with regard to food, governments should take into account the need of all consumers for food security and should support and, as far as possible, adopt standards from the ..... Codex Alimentarius. .....''

The Codex Alimentarius Commission consists of delegates from 163 member nations representing 97 percent of the world's population. It meets every two years, either in Rome or Geneva. Between meetings, the
commission is governed by an executive committee that directs the activities of its many committees.

Of immediate concern is the ongoing effort to bring dietary supplements in America under the control of standards set by this commission. Dietary supplements generate a $17 billion industry in the United States, which affects more than 150 million consumers, according to Congressional findings (H.R. 2485). Proposed procedures and standards could virtually destroy this market and deprive millions of Americans of the supplements they want to use.

The European Union Directive on Dietary Supplements, which becomes law in August, severely restricts the types and quantities of supplements
that may be legally sold. Most forms of vitamins C and E, for example, are not available, or are available only in extremely small doses. If current plans proceed on course, American consumers are in for a shock.

How can this little-known international commission control what
consumers buy in the United States?

An even less-known agency, deep within the bowels of the U.S. Department of Agriculture is responsible for U.S. participation in the Codex Commission and designates delegates to each of the commission's committees. Barbara O. Schneeman is the delegate to the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Food for Special Dietary Uses.

The effort to regulate dietary supplements has been under way for more than a decade. In 1994, Congress adopted the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act, which kept supplements beyond the reach of the drug police. In the past, Codex recommendations have been non-binding. Now, however, the Codex Alimentarius Commission is teaming up with the World Trade Organization to bring international enforcement to the dietary-supplement battle.

Ironically, it was primarily the U.S. that brought the WTO into existence in 1994, as the successor to GATT, the General Agreement on Tarriffs and Trade. The WTO agreement specifically requires that the member nations--including the U.S.--conform its laws to meet the requirements of WTO decisions. Failure to conform results in stiff financial penalties. The Codex Commission and the European Union want the WTO to enforce Codex standards, which fly directly in the face of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act.

Pascal Lamy of France was just selected as director general of the WTO. Lamy served as a member of the French Socialist Party's steering committee and was chief of staff and representative of the European Commission for President Jacques Delors. Since 1995, he has served as a member of the Central Office of the Mouvement Européen (France) and as a member of the European Commission, responsible for trade.

The Codex Commission will be meeting in Rome July 4-9 to adopt the final rules on dietary supplement use. Dr. Carolyn Dean, president of Friends of Freedom International, will attend this meeting and return to the U.S. just in time to present her report to the Sixth Annual Freedom 21 Conference in Reno, July 14-16.

The Codex Alimentarius Commission's reach is much broader than dietary supplements. Its committees are also working on standards for pesticide residue, labeling of all kinds of foods, food additives and nutrients, veterinary medicine and drugs, as well as standards and methods for analysis. The function of this organization is to establish standards for all food worldwide and to enforce those standards through the power of the World Trade Organization.

Few people know that there is such a thing as the Codex Alimentarius Commission. It was created to promote food safety in international trade. It is on the brink of becoming an Orwellian bureaucracy--far worse than the worst fantasies of the one-world conspiracy theories.

The Codex Alimentarius Commission is neither fantasy nor theory; it is
real.
