Summer Essentials

What is aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is the practice of using 100% pure essential oils to positively influence, alter, shift, modify and change emotions and moods. It is a powerful tool that complements numerous alternative health-and-wellness modalities and practices such as herbal supplements, massage, skin care, chiropractic care, acupuncture and other natural health trades.

Safety Tips
1. Dilute essential oils (except for Lavender) before applying them directly to the skin.
2. Keep essential oils out of reach of children.
3. Do not use essential oils internally.
4. Citrus essential oils are phototoxic. Avoid direct sunlight for 2-3 hours after using these essential oils on the skin.
5. Keep essential oils away from the eyes. Use milk to flush if exposure occurs--essential oils are NOT water-soluble.
6. Use caution with someone who suffers from chronic or serious health conditions such as heart concerns and neurological disorders. Consult a professional healthcare provider before beginning any program.
7. Be careful when using essential oils during pregnancy. Consult your physician before use.

History
The meaning of the term “aromatherapy” can be traced back to 16th century alchemists searching for “quintessence” or the secret of life. Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, a French scientist, was the first to coin the term “aromatherapie” in the 1920’s, which later became the title of his first book published in 1937. He made significant contributions to the understanding and awareness of what we know today as holistic aromatherapy.

Home Spa Party Tips
An important goal of presenting home spa parties is to gain referrals for future party opportunities. This will contribute to the success and prosperity of your aromatherapy home spa party business. An effective way to do this is to have “Booking Seeds.” Booking seeds are appetizers that capture a guest’s or customer’s interest. They entice and motivate someone to host their own party.

Some examples of booking seeds are:

a Offer a free gift to all those who book and host a party within 30 days.
a Offer a free gift to those who refer you to someone who books a party. a Display booking gifts at a party. This can be a single gift or a basket of products.

Aromatherapy Business-Building Tips
Good customer service goes a long with clientele. It will encourage their loyalty and commitment. Offering extra help and services will keep you a step ahead of your competition. Keep records of your customers’ purchases, likes and dislikes to help you service their needs more effectively as well as increase your product sales. Inform customers when their favorite products are on special and when new products arrive. You can keep track of this via a computer program or by using index cards and a filing system.

It will also help you recall a customer’s previous order with ease and convenience. This alone may encourage a customer to return to you for future products since most people are on a time schedule. This is especially handy when a customer comes to you as a referral of another customer for the same products. You can quickly refer to the friend’s client file to see what products he or she may want to use.
