Health Choices tips on New Year

Creating a New Start
Starting the new year off RIGHT! January 13, 2010
Hello from Health Choices!
I wanted to share with you a tradition that we do this time each year.
With the economy as it is, so many people have decided to plant a garden. We never know how the prices will be on anything by spring and summer.
One thing is for sure, most of our grandparents did not depend upon the government or anyone else to supply their food.
I feel that we have to become self-reliant once more.
Each January, I start our seeds.
Going by the farmers Almanac, one of the best days to start seeds is
January the 15th. There will be other days also.
I always start my plants inside our home, and by planting season, we have healthy plants that are ready to be placed in the ground.
I have found a great way to make starter pots out of newspaper and recycle at the same time!
There is a link below to show you how.
Even if you don't have a space for a garden, you can plant then in a flower garden or you can purchase bags of potting soil, cut an X in the top, place a tomato plant in it and lean it against your house.
The plant should give you at least 20 to 30 tomatos during its growing season. This can be done with any other plant as well.
If you don't wont to start your own seeds, you can purchase them from any lawn and garden center or feed store.
If you raise your own food there is a sense of freedom and accomplishment. Raising your own plants also can be done organic.
When I have an over abundance of vegetables I just freeze them for later.
Starter pots below:
If this does not direct you there just go to youtube, then type in starter pots newspaper. I hope that you have a great experience planting!

How to stay Positive in life!

Life is difficult. The fallacious thought is that we can change that.
In accepting that life indeed is difficult, we begin to make it less painful...not less difficult.
Accept that life is full of difficulty, stick with your belief system and remember that life can be hard, deal with it.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself.
People who go around saying that life sucks are really wanting attention hoping somebody will care enough to actually want to help.
Yes, life can be difficult and cruel and unfair, but every time you're feeling sorry for yourself , consider how fortunate you really are and what you DO have.
Show me the person who complains about not having name brand sneakers or designer shoes and I'll show you the person with no feet! Every day above ground really is a good day.
So stop feeling sorry for yourself, and take one step forward.
Then another. Then another. Then another.
Ground Yourself.
The most common reason why people think their lives suck is that they aren't living their own lives.
Look deeply into whether you are acting to please others - to please family, friends, and society. Realize that you need to get to know who you are and what your needs are, and make the choices to follow your own path. To know these things, a path of meditation and inner exploration is invaluable.
Look on the inside.
What are some qualities you have that you like about yourself?
Are you funny? Are you intelligent? Are you sincere?
Are you generous? What do you have pride in?
Try focusing on the positive things in your life.
You may be having a positive influence on others even when you think you're useless.
Prove those negative thoughts wrong.
When you find yourself in a bad mood, you could think of the negative things such as,
 "I'm dumb and annoying",
"I'm better off dead",
"I'm ugly, I wish I looked different", etc.
Even though it's not true. Change your mind.
Look for your good features, think about the ones that you know love you, look on your greater side.
Realize that nobody's life is easy and that there will always be ups and downs, and moments of low self esteem.
Don't automatically assume that nobody cares.
Every person matters to someone. You're alive for a reason.
Appreciate what you see.
Look in the mirror. Find some beautiful things about yourself....
Do you have nice skin? nice nails? beautiful eyes? full lips?
Find stuff that appeals to you. When you can't change something, change your attitude towards it!
It's all how you look at it.
Jealous of the people with 'amazing' lives?
They chose to be that way!
Remember, there are people living in mansions who are miserable and people living on the street who are perfectly happy.
It's all on how you look at it.
Determine how your life could be better.
What can you do to make your life better?
What do you desire to do?
How do you want to feel?
Make a few reachable goals and your own strategies.
The first step is usually the hardest - getting help or admitting you need it.
Get motivated.
What motivates you? What gives you energy to go on everyday? Music? Love? Family? A 1km run? God/Allah? Your attitude?
Your pet? Friends? School?
Give yourself a boost by focusing on what is important to you personally.
Remember that some things can pass with time.
There will be a tomorrow. There will be a next week. There will be a next month and perhaps by then, things will have changed for the better.
Reminisce. Whenever you feel like the future is 'hopeless', think about happy memories. It will help make you feel better and remind you that in the future, there will be good things, too.
Think about all the good things you've experienced, felt, and achieved, and consider how many more could things could be waiting ahead. There will be many great moments in your life - don't let a few obstacles get in the way.
Don't stop yourself from feeling the joy.
It's okay to step back once in awhile and just enjoy the moment.
Even in tough situations - it's important to smile and laugh here and there. Don't restrict yourself from doing things you love because they're "not important" or because you think you'll be criticized for doing them. Let yourself enjoy life even if you're not at the best place you could be. You only live once - make the best of it.
Develop a gratitude journal. It's pretty simple. At the end of every day, write down five things that have made you happy or appreciative that day -- not necessarily big things, even small ones count.
For example: nice weather, being praised by my boss for getting an urgent errand done, my playful dog, kids and hubby kissing me goodbye before they went to school/work, a hilarious joke a mate shared, etc.
If you feel persistently sad, unmotivated, anxious, hopeless or fearful, seek professional help.
You may be suffering from a mood disorder or nutritional deficit which could be contributing to your situation.
Remember there is always somebody there who wants to help you. You are valuable!

Can it help me lose weight?
We also wanted to let you know that we received a great deal on Super Bifido Plus probiotic and have decided to pass on savings to all of you!

Below is information about this great product.
I myself am on it, as it helps with the yeast overgrowth in the body. (Too many carbs after holidays)
Udo's Choice Super Bifido Plus Probiotic:
The number of bacteria in your gastrointestinal tract greatly outnumber the cells in your body; your gut has 100 trillion microorganisms while you have about 10 trillion cells in your body!
What this means is that the microflora in your gut is a powerful and compelling force in your body, one that may influence far more than how well your food gets digested.
Researchers from Washington University in St. Louis found that obese people have more of a family of bacteria called firmicutes than lean people.
Among normal weight people, meanwhile, bacteria called bacteroidetes were less plentiful. And it appears the bacteria were having a major impact on weight.
A lot of people aren't aware that we all carry about a lot of bacteria in our intestines and that they're extremely helpful in aiding digestion.
What Else are Probiotics Good For?
Probiotics lower the pH of your colon and kill disease-causing microbes.
They also produce vitamins A, B and K, protect you from illness. Probiotics
enhance your immune system.
·Prevent infections after surgery
·Treat acute and chronic diarrhea
·Relieve inflammatory bowel disease
·Treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
·Protect against cancer development and progression
·Prevent eczema in children
·Prevent and treat vaginal yeast infections and urinary tract infections
·Help reduce systemic allergic responses
Are You Getting Enough Probiotics?
When we are born, most of us began with a clean slate in terms of health. Unborn babies are equipped with their own friendly bacteria and after they are born breast milk helps that bacteria to grow and flourish.
However, from there many people exist largely on diets of processed and pasteurized foods, which are virtually devoid of the friendly bacteria we need to flourish.

The Victorian did swear by it.

ALOE VERA: GROW AN ALOE VERA PLANT in a pot near the kitchen door.
Break off a leaf and apply the juice for the best-ever relief from burns or insect bites.
